Dennis George Hughes, age 66, of St. Peter formerly of the Montgomery area, passed away peacefully at home May 20, 2024. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 30 from 3-6pm at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.

Dennis was born on June 14, 1957 in New Prague to George and Sylvia F. (Soukup) Hughes. He grew up in rural Kilkenny on his family farm with his siblings and loved riding the John Deere tractors. He attended Montgomery High School and then joined the Army Reserves. He married Mary Ruff and started a family and worked construction. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, hunting, was huge Vikings fan, loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his children, Kelly (P.J.) Neubauer of North Mankato, Jeremy (Kelly) Hughes of Elysian, Amber Hughes (Jesse Morsching) of North Mankato, and Travis Hughes of Mankato; 10 grandchildren, Brianna, Dylan, Carter, Natalie, Noah, Finley, Arbor, Jasper, Hailey, and Jaeden; siblings, Darrell Hughes of Faribault, Delores (Richard) Peka of St. Paul, Grace Kukacka, of Montgomery, Linda (Allen) Bohnsak of New Prague, Susie (Tom) Trenda of Montgomery, Eugene Hughes of Minneapolis, and Janet (Vern) Kelsey of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Samantha; siblings, Betty (Alvin) Jilek, Kenneth Hughes, Matthew Hughes, and Donna Modriefsky.
