Avis Estelle Reed

AVIS ESTELLE REED, age 95, of Le Center passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Central Heath Care.

Avis was born on December 7, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Evelyn (Lund) Larson. She graduated from Franklin High School with the Class of 1947. Over the years, Avis held several local jobs, including work as an accountant for a grain elevator, at the library, and with the City of Le Center, where she served for ten years before retiring.

A devoted and resilient mother, Avis was especially proud of raising four children on her own while balancing work and family life. She had a green thumb and took great pride in maintaining her yard and garden, with a special love for flowers. But above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother, finding deep joy in every generation that followed her.

Avis is survived by her children, Donna (David) Fredrickson of Le Center, Jim (Melanie) Reed of Blairsville, GA, David (Brenda) Reed of Le Center; son-in-law, Larry Hulse of Summerville, KY; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild, eight great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Evelyn Larson; sister, Shirley Larson; daughter, Bonnie Hulse; step-grandchild, Mykel; great-grandchild, Ella; and great great-grandchild, Tate.

Visitation for Avis will be from 4 – 7 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Le Center. A private family burial will be at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, MN.
