BENJAMIN “BEN” JAMES KRENIK, age 45, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 13, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Rochester.
Ben was born on January 25, 1981, in New Prague to Nick and Teri (Nelson) Krenik. He graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School with the Class of 1999.
Ben met Becky Scheffler in 2002, and they were married on November 20, 2010, in Daytona Beach, Florida. They made their home in Montgomery and built a life filled with family, friends, and plenty of good times.
Ben worked in concrete and construction for many years before starting Krenik’s Concrete in 2020. He took pride in his work, was a hard worker, and enjoyed the independence of running his own business.
Ben had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being around his favorite people and was always ready with a story or a joke. He especially enjoyed BBQing and smoking meat, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of a good gathering. He also enjoyed ice fishing, deer hunting, fishing trips to Ely, Mallards games, and following Minnesota sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings.
Ben is survived by his wife, Becky Krenik of Montgomery; mother, Teri (Mark) Paro of Faribault; siblings, Scott (Jenny) Krenik and Nadine Krenik, both of Montgomery; niece and nephew, Allen and Kylee Krenik; father and mother-in-law, Greg (Sharleen) Scheffler of New Prague; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nick Krenik; grandmother, Shirley Nelson; and sister-in-law, Heather Cotter.
Celebration of Ben’s life will be from 2 – 6 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the American Bar and Grill in Montgomery. Ben will be laid to rest at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Montgomery Area Community Club.
