Consuelo Fernandez Lopez

Consuelo Fernandez Lopez, age 82, of Le Center, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at her home in Le Center.

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Consuelo was the daughter of Ignacio Fernandez and Isabel Lopez. She attended school in Mexico through the 8th grade. At an early age she and her family moved throughout Mexico as her father was part of the Mexican Military. During her early 20’s in Guadalajara, Jalisco Consuelo married and had 6 children during her marriage. In the late 1970’s she left Guadalajara, Jalisco and moved to Los Angeles, California. A few years later she welcomed 2 more children. While living in Los Angeles she worked as a seamstress for many years. In 2001, Consuelo moved to Le Center, and a few years later, in 2004, she opened her own clothing store, featuring garments made by herself. She also learned and began selling pinatas, making personalized pinatas for customers as well as family members. Even after she closed her store, she continued making pinatas as it was something she truly enjoyed doing. She loved to travel, dancing and going to the casino. Consuelo shared her life with her significant other, Mauricio Bautista for many years.

Consuelo is survived by her children, Veronica (Samuel) Estrada, Le Center, MN; Elidia Alvarez, Burnsville, MN; Sergio (Cynthia) Martinez, Le Center, MN, Alejandra (Pedro) Zuniga Ruiz; Jorge (Sabina) Martinez, Los Angeles, CA; Diane (Victor) Ortiz, Le Center, MN; Monica Martinez, Mexico; 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha (Raul) Fernandez, Le Center, MN.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Karina Arroyo; brothers, Antonio, Francisco, Igmacio, Fernando; sisters, Natividad, Lucia, and Maria Elena.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Le Center Chapel of Schoenbauer Funeral Homes. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.
