Donald A. Priem, age 71 of Coral Springs, FL; formerly of Janesville, MN died on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Broward Health Hospital.
Donald Andrew Priem, the son of Donald John and Darlene (Worrell) Priem, was born on January 10, 1953 in Waseca, Minnesota. Donald "Don or Donnie" attended school in Janesville, MN. On May 19, 1973 he was united in marriage to Janice Lynn Holicky at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center, MN.
He enlisted in the United States Army, beginning service on October 23, 1974 where he served six years specializing in Hawk Missiles. His travels with the ARMY were many, including serving two years in Germany, and two years in Korea. His final rank was Staff Sergeant (E-6) where he was a Hawk Firing Section Mechanic. He earned many awards during his service including the "National Defense Service Medal."
Once his ARMY career concluded, Donald worked for GE on computer chips, eventually deciding to pursue his passion and moving on to become a Construction Superintendent. Most notably building a Pier in South Beach, Miami, upgrading the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, FL, and building an Italian Clubhouse in a high-end housing development in central Florida (his favorite project). His final project, before deciding to retire in 2021 was the building of a school for a large Church in Tamarac, FL.
He is survived by his wife Jan, one daughter, Michelle Lynn Priem of Coral Springs, FL, and one granddaughter Liana Lynn Priem of Coral Springs, FL who affectionately referred to him as "Popeye." Five sisters, Debra (and Joe) Jackson of Denison, TX, Theresa Schultz of Janesville, MN, Kathy (and Richard) Berry of Janesville, MN, Amy Hanson of Burnsville, MN, and Angela (and Bob) Coonrod of Mankato, MN.
Donald enjoyed his roles as "dad," "grandfather," "brother," "uncle," and "friend." He loved to cook (we all benefited from this hobby), to fish, to bowl, to play cards/dominos, to listen to music (especially from the 60's), was a skilled skeet shooter, and had a keen love of horses as well as his dog "Buddy" and his grand-dog "Lola," ...he loved to spoil them with treats. He will missed dearly by all who knew him.
A celebration of the lives of Don and Michelle will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM with a graveside service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery of German Lake in Cleveland, MN. Following the service, food and fellowship will be shared in the church’s social hall.
