Dorothy Helen (David) Anderson, 87, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026 at Carriage House Assisted Living, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born at the family home on July 24, 1939, to James and Helen (Shetka) David, Dorothy lived a life filled with faith, devotion, and a joyful love for family. Raised in Montgomery, she attended Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School, carrying those early community ties with her throughout her life.
On September 19, 1959, Dorothy married the love of her life, Mike Anderson. Together they built a beautiful life in Le Center, raising five children and sharing 51 years of marriage before Mike’s passing in 2010. Their partnership was one of deep affection, shared laughter, and countless adventures — especially in semi-retirement, when extended trips to Laughlin became a treasured tradition.
Together, Mike and Dorothy owned and operated Anderson Painting for many years, and later opened a local shop called Somewhere, where Dorothy eventually added travel‑agent services. She loved being part of the community and rarely missed a town celebration — often helping plan them. Whether working, traveling, or gathering with friends and neighbors, Dorothy brought joy, energy, and a welcoming spirit to everything she touched.
Dorothy delighted in simple joys: a good game of cards, time spent at the family cabin, traveling, and gathering with friends and loved ones. She was happiest when surrounded by family, and she carried immense pride in her children and grandchildren. Her warmth, humor, and welcoming spirit made her a beloved member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and numerous community groups.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carrie (Jack) Hendrickson of Kauai, HI; Lori, wife of the late Jerry Anderson of New Prague, MN; Todd (DeNell) Anderson of Savage, MN; Kent (Shari) Anderson of Kentwood, MI; and Chad (Tammy) Anderson of Le Center.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Samantha (Tony) Billington, Mandi Anderson, Ashley (John) Paulsen, Tressa (Bill) Slobodnik, Sam (Rachel) Anderson, Julia Anderson, Jenessa (Mark) Wallace, Allison Anderson, Gage Anderson, and Jace Anderson; and her great‑grandchildren Sophie, Sadie, and Charlie Paulsen.
She is also survived by in‑laws, Doris David, MaryEllen Anderson, Ava & Bruce Blum, Geraldine Anderson, and Bill Bendzick.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, William Turek; her husband, Mike; her son, Jerry; her brothers Ernest (Harry) David and Bernard David; her sister Joanie and brother‑in‑law, Jim Skluzacek; her sister‑in‑law, Deanna David; her brother and sister‑in‑law, Gerald and Vivian Anderson; her sister‑in‑law, Nancy Anderson; and her brother‑in‑law, Dan Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Le Center, MN; Fr. Michael Barsness will officiate.
