Dorothy Ann Riebel

September 26, 1931 — March 27, 2026

Le Center, Minnesota

Dorothy Ann Riebel, age 94, of Le Center, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Carriage House Senior Living in Le Center.

Dorothy was born on September 26, 1931, in Waseca, to Frank and Martha (Frodl) Stangler. She grew up in rural Elysian and began her education at Okaman Country School in Waseca County. She was a 1949 graduate of Waterville High School.

On August 25, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Joseph Riebel at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Elysian. Together they made their home on the Riebel family farm in rural St. Henry, where they raised their five children.

Dorothy began her career at Elysian State Bank before joining Anderson Law Office, where she worked as a tax preparer for more than 60 years. She was deeply involved with Pioneer Power, serving as Treasurer for over 30 years and managing the Thresher Kitchen for many of those years. She was also an active member of the Le Center American Legion Auxiliary and the Le Center VFW Auxiliary.

A woman devoted to her Catholic faith, Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She volunteered with the Altar Society for many years and also served as choir director. Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening, puzzles, crosswords, and playing 500 and bridge. She and Bob loved antiquing together and going out dancing.

Dorothy cherished her neighbors and the friends she met for breakfast every Sunday. Above all, she loved visiting with people—especially the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Ann (Glenn) Holicky of Le Center, Neaner (Don) Kriha of Montgomery, Donnie (Margie) Riebel of Le Center, Dale (Angie) Riebel of Le Center, and Connie (Dave) Wood of Moorhead; her grandchildren: Dean (Beth) Holicky, Dan (Jerre) Holicky, Colleen (Pete) Stasney, Kevin (Jamie) Kriha, Brittney (Joey) Moses, Ryan Riebel, Taylor Riebel, Nathan (Thea) Riebel, Chelsea (Taylor) Lehr, Lauren Wood, and Parker Wood; and her 12 great‑grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters‑in‑law Patty (Phil) Lehner of Le Sueur and Sharon Riebel of Le Sueur, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and her brothers Clayton (Bonnie) Stangler and Cletus Stangler.

Visitation will be held from 4:00–7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Le Center Chapel of Schoenbauer Funeral Homes. A service led by the Le Center VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries will conclude the evening at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church in rural Le Center. Interment will follow in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery.
