Elizabeth "Liz" Theresa Rogers passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord, MN with her loving family by her side.
Born on March 20, 1947, in Waseca, MN, Elizabeth was the daughter of Romulo and Modesta (Contrez) Rodriguez. She grew up in rural Cleveland and attended the local schools. As a young teenager, Liz set her sights on the handsome farmhand, Dale Rogers, certain that one day she would make him her husband. On January 8, 1966, she was married to the love of her life, Dale, at the Church of Christ in Cleveland, MN. Together they continued to make Cleveland their home where they raised their four children.
Liz loved her family fiercely, cherishing her years at home with them as they grew up, and later continuing that devotion by helping care for her grandchildren and friends’ children in a loving daycare role. Liz never met a shopping trip she didn’t love. She could spend hours happily searching for the perfect birthday or holiday gift, and every present she chose carried a little piece of her love—thoughtfully tailored to the smallest details and the quiet wishes of those who received it. She celebrated birthdays and holidays with her whole heart, turning every occasion into a feast. The table was always overflowing with food, and even though her home wasn’t large, she somehow made space for everyone who walked through the door. She was especially known for her pies; pumpkin and apple, each one baked to perfection and for her legendary chocolate chip cookies made from a closely guarded secret recipe. She baked them by the dozens, sharing them generously with her grandchildren and sending them off to countless sporting events, where teammates waited eagerly for “Grandma Liz’s cookies.” Over the years, she put her remarkable sewing talents to work, stitching clothing for her children and crafting special projects for her grandchildren and gladly shared her talent with anyone who needed a stitch of her love.
Above all else, she cherished being a grandma and great grandma. She was a true “Momma Bear,” always wanting the very best for the people she loved. Day after day she cooked for her husband with quiet devotion, ensuring he was cared for as he worked on the farm. Her heart shone brighter than gold, and her absence will be felt beyond measure.
Liz will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Dale; her children, Lisa (Peter) Koppelman, Theresa (Bill) John, Jimmy (Karen) Rogers, all of Cleveland, and Billy Rogers of Madelia; grandchildren, Brandon Koppelman, Evan (Hanaa) Koppelman, Jeramy Rohlfing, Christopher (Melanie) Rohlfing, Ryan Rohlfing, Courtlynn (Cole Mettler) Rohlfing, Kyran (Cole) Videen, Jillian Rohlfing, Alec Rogers, and Shane (Sydnee Wand) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Riley, Brenley, Winston, Waylon, Wynter, Maverick, and Isla; siblings, Pete (Roxie) Rodriguez, Bob (Mimi) Rodriguez, Max Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, Florence Headlee Rodriguez, Mike Rodriguez, Leo Rodriguez, Jerry (Janet) Rodriguez and Raymond Rodriguez; sisters-in-laws, Alice Rodriguez and Christella Rodriguez; brothers-in-laws, Brad Crumb and Ken Headlee; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Irva and Esther Rogers; grandchildren, Courtney Rohlfing and Tyler Rogers; brothers, Louie Rodriguez and Lupe Rodriguez; and sisters, Laurie (Wayne) Armstrong and Carmen Johannson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ in Cleveland, MN; Pastor Rob Perry will officiate. Liz's family will greet guests at a visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Savidge Lake Cemetery.
