JEFFREY ARTHUR BECKER, 67, of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away on September 16th, 2025 surrounded by family after a recent pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
Jeff Becker was born on July 20th, 1958 to parents Russ and Rita (née Wintheiser) Becker of LeCenter, Minnesota. Growing up in the LeCenter area, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, lover of good music, and all-around athlete; playing baseball and football, and lettering in wrestling in high school while also setting (and continuing to hold) a Minnesota state high school record for most fumble recoveries in one game (4).
After high school he worked to put himself through college by picking vegetables for Green Giant and later graduated from Mankato State University with a Bachelor’s degree in both Business and Economics. He was an employee of GMAC for over 25 years, where he made several life long friends and met his future wife. He was known for his love of the Minnesota outdoors, sense of humor, and passion for Minnesota sports. He was dedicated to volunteering and donating to charities like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Relay for Life.
Jeff married Mary Shanahan on November 9th,1991,and together they shared 33 years of marriage. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his 3 grandchildren, for whom he devotedly attended dance recitals, 9am soccer games, and kindergarten graduations. He will be remembered for his love of his family, enthusiasm for anything outdoors, endless pursuit of knowledge, and his ability and preference for causing just a little bit of mayhem.
He is survived by his brothers David (Debby) and Tom (Sheila); his loving wife Mary; children Emma (Chris) and Andrew; grandchildren Anja (6), Bjorn (5), and Freja (1). He was preceded in death by his parents Russ and Rita Becker, who welcome him home.
A celebration of life will be hosted by Jeff's family on October 1st, 2025 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota (7110 France Ave S. Edina, MN 55435). Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his life by wearing their Minnesota sports team apparel. Visitation begins at 2pm, service at 3pm, and reception to follow.
His family welcomes flowers, donations to the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research or St. Jude’s Children Hospital in his memory, and prayers for the Minnesota Vikings as they continue their 2025 season.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the EMT’s, nurses, and physicians involved in Jeff’s diagnosis and care over the past 2 weeks for their empathy, kindness, and support.
