Joseph Michael Gores

JOSEPH “JOE” MICHAEL GORES, age 75, of Montgomery passed away at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Joe was born on February 19, 1950, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Hubert and Lillian (Hauptli) Gores. He grew up in Wabasso and graduated from Wabasso High School. On October 26, 1968, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Burns. Together, they moved to Montgomery in 1973 and built a life centered around family, hard work, and community.

Joe dedicated over four decades to United Steel Products, where he served in various roles and eventually retired as Plant Manager in 2007. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, Joe left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company.

In retirement, Joe found joy in restoring classic cars, woodworking, gardening, fishing, and trying his luck at the casino. He was a fixer of all things—a true jack of all trades—and always ready to lend a hand when something needed repair. One of his greatest pleasures was the annual family camping trip to Cross Lake, a tradition he cherished deeply. He was a longtime member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and generously gave his time as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Joe is survived by his children, Shelly (Marvin) Denzer of Waconia, Michael (Laura) Gores of Waconia; grandchildren, Madison Denzer, Jacob Denzer, Ellie Gores, Joey Gores; siblings, Ray Gores of Bloomington, Carolyn Atkins of Bloomington, Phyllis Blum of Hutchinson, Jim (Sandy) Gores of Bloomington, Dean (Jackie) Gores of Hutchinson, Gene (Pat) Gores of Avon, Marie (Gary) Lensing of Wabasso; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne; parents, Hubert and Lillian; and sister, Irene.

Memorial service for Joe will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Visitation will take place an hour and a half prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
