LeRoy Henry Tiede, age 90, of Le Center, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Cura of Le Sueur.
LeRoy was born on May 17, 1936, at the family farm in Le Sueur County, to William August and Mayta (Reddemann) Tiede. He attended District 8 County School in Le Sueur County and graduated from McKinley High School in Le Center with the Class of 1954. On October 8, 1956, LeRoy was united in marriage to Doris Krueger. Together they made their home on the family farm, where they raised their four children. They shared 61 years of marriage before Doris passed away on October 22, 2017.
LeRoy farmed all his life and worked at Green Giant/Seneca, retiring in 2006. He was proud to pass on his passion for agriculture to his family. In his later years, LeRoy would regularly be at the farm to supervise the operation. He was a member of Pioneer Power and, in his younger years, was involved with 4‑H.
LeRoy was a devoted fan of John Deere tractors and enjoyed adding to his toy tractor collection. He loved working on “treasures,” visiting and sharing stories with others, going uptown for coffee, and always looked forward to Friday breakfasts. Known for his warm sense of humor, he had a special way of making people laugh. He especially cherished his role as a grandfather and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center.
LeRoy is survived by his children: Rusty (Nancy) Tiede of Le Center, Randy (Karen) Tiede of Connecticut, Dawn Tiede of Carver, and Dale (Patty Ann) Tiede of Le Center; 11 grandchildren; 21 great‑grandchildren; sister, Patsy Lande of Le Center; stepsister, Bernice Bohnsack of Pasadena, California; step sister-in-law, Peggy Svoboda of New Prague; brother‑in‑law, Jerry Tobias of Lake City; sister‑in‑law, Caroline Krueger of Le Center; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepmother, Elizabeth (Svoboda) Tiede; step brothers: Rueben (Carol) Svoboda and Lloyd Svoboda; step brother-in-law, Wayne Bohnsack.
