Lorraine was born in Le Center on December 27, 1926, to Frederick and Anna (Heidenreich) Weiss. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life. On April 27, 1954, Lorraine married Francis "Bud" Shippman, and together they shared many years of marriage, enjoying life and traveling together. Lorraine enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. At the same time, she took great pride in her warm, cozy and lovely home, where she was happiest surrounded by the things she loved. She was a talented seamstress who truly enjoyed sewing and took pride in her work. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening, and caring for her apple trees. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved baking, canning and freezing, and took pleasure in making her home welcoming and comfortable. Her love of animals was evident throughout her life, especially in her affection for her dog Lilly and other pets who brought her companionship and joy. Lorraine also volunteered at the local thrift store and was involved in the Home Extension Program. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and generously shared her talents through her church involvement, including making beautiful banners for the church. She was also involved with the church funeral committee. Lorraine will be remembered for her warm personality, her devotion to her faith, and her enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for those who knew and loved her.
