Minnetonka, formerly of Montgomery and Le Center

Mary Agnes Trzecinski, age 94, of Minnetonka and formerly of Montgomery and Le Center, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Edina.

Mary was born on January 23, 1932, in Le Center, to John and Martha (Cemensky) Trzecinski. She grew up on her family’s farm on Lake Gorman, where she created many cherished memories—riding her horse “Buddy”, raising her pet calf, and tending the garden that began her lifelong love of growing things.

She attended Le Center High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. Mary continued her education at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis before attending Hennepin County Technical School, where she trained to become a medical secretary. She went on to work at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park for over 20 years as a unit clerk and medical secretary, a role she took great pride in. After retirement, she remained active by babysitting at a church in Edina, where she loved being around children.

Mary was well known for her extraordinary gardens—at one time tending 110 raspberry bushes. She became a Master Gardener, and her “green thumb” was admired by all who knew her. She was a member of the Minnetonka Senior Garden Club and shared her gardening passion generously.

Mary loved to polka and firmly believed dancing was the best medicine for a heavy heart; she was never shy about asking strangers if they liked to polka, too. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing, and throughout her life she found joy in traveling—especially winter trips to Florida, summers “up north” fishing, visits to the East Coast including Martha’s Vineyard, and trips out west to visit her son Jim.

A devoted Catholic, Mary was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Minnetonka and regularly prayed the rosary. She lived a life of self-sufficiency and quiet strength. She raised five children, cared for her mother in her later years, and was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren—babysitting, picking them up from school (even when her small car seemed to have no room to spare), and attending their events with unwavering support.

Mary is survived by her children: Jim Kimes, Robert Kimes, Steve Kimes, and Terri Kimes; grandchildren: James Kimes, Kathleen Kimes, Richard Kimes, Christopher Kimes, and April Kimes; three great-grandchildren; brother, Leo (Kathy) Andrews; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, David; sisters, Margaret Trzecinski and Katy (George) Trnka; and brothers, Bernie, John, and Jim.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Le Center. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
