Maxine "Max" Frances Hansen

MAXINE “MAX” FRANCES HANSEN, age 77, of Mankato, Minnesota, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the Le Center Nursing Home.

Max was born on October 16, 1949, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Kenneth R. and Blanche (Hardacre) Hansen. She grew up in Mankato. She attended Franklin School and graduated from Mankato West High School before attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and Duluth.

Max dedicated part of her career to working in security at St. Peter State Hospital before becoming manager at the Oleander Saloon in Mankato. She enjoyed reading novels, playing pool, watching football, and especially visiting her many friends throughout northern Minnesota. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.

Max is survived by her sister, Carmen Jo Schwitzer of Le Center; her nieces and nephews, including Lori Ryan, Pamela Young, Larry Drobnik, Susan Scullin, Matthew Neubert, Mikki Neubert, Trisha Klein, Paula Jo Braam; special great-niece, Julie Drobnik; and many great and great great nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth R. Hansen and Blanche E. Morrow; her sisters, Lola Benson, Linda Hallmark, and Marsha Klein; and her nephews, Richard Young, Matthew Hensley, and Mark Hensley.

A celebration of life for Max will be on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4 – 7 PM at Oleander Saloon, 701 North Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001.
