MYRNA LORRAINE SCHEFFERT, age 87, of Le Center, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Myrna was born on January 4, 1938, in St. Peter, Minnesota, to Luther and Verna (Block) Anderson. She grew up in St. Peter and graduated with the Class of 1956 from St. Peter High School. On November 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to James Scheffert in St. Peter. Together they made their home in Le Center, where they raised four children and shared 65 loving years of marriage until James’s passing in 2023.
Before starting her family, Myrna worked briefly as a bank teller. She devoted herself to raising her children, always ensuring they were well cared for and greeted with hot meals, baked goods, and desserts after school. Once her youngest began school, Myrna returned to the workforce, holding positions at Farmer Seed, Casey’s, Gustavus Adolphus College as a baker, and later at the local hardware store before retiring.
In her younger years, Myrna enjoyed bowling. She had a passion for gardening and took pride in canning her produce. She loved fishing with her husband and had a deep affection for animals. Above all, Myrna cherished her family. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending their activities and spending quality time with them. She also enjoyed playing cards and was known for her generous, loving, and supportive nature—always willing to help anyone in need. Myrna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. Peter.
She is survived by her children: Sue Schmidt of Le Center, Sandy (Tim) Miller of Le Center, Vicky Factor of Cleveland, and James Scheffert Jr.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings: Charlotte Kamps of Le Sueur and Wally (Sandy) Anderson of Washington State; sister-in-law, Linda Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; siblings: James, Arnie, and Doug Anderson; son-in-law, Larry Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Doug Kamps.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Le Center Chapel of Schoenbauer Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Le Center. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
