SHIRLEY ANN WAGNER, age 87 of Le Sueur, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Carriage House Assisted Living in Le Center.
Shirley was born in Waseca on August 16, 1938 to parents Ruben John and Elsie Emelia (Sell) Wendt. She attended school in Cleveland and graduated with the Clipper class of 1956. She was married to Harold William Wagner on March 12, 1958 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elysian. At points in their life together, Harold traveled throughout the United States following his highline work but Shirley remained on the family farm with the children. She also spent time working in quality control for Winco and was a bartender and waitress at the American Legion in Le Center. Shirley was an avid bowler and was a long-time member of Boyd’s Bowling Team. She and Harold were members of the Le Sueur County Saddle Club, she volunteered at the St. Mary’s Thrift Store in Le Center, and she enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, working puzzles, playing bingo, and spending time with her beloved pets, Rosie, Ginger, Smoky, and her most recent addition, Izzy.
Shirley is survived by four children, Robert Wagner and his special friend Bernadette of Le Sueur, Carol (Patrick) Osborne of Le Center, Brian (Julie) Wagner of Cleveland, and Bradley (Denise) Wagner of New Prague; three grandchildren, Zachary (Kate) Wagner of Brooklyn Center, Kevin Wagner of Jamestown, ND, and Corey Wagner of White Sands Air Force Base near Alamaogordo, NM; five siblings, Doris Seifert of Mankato, Dorothy (Aaron) Roemhildt of Elysian, Melvin (Jean) Wendt of Elysian, Bonnie (Gaylen) Schoenfeld of Lester Prairie, and Kevin (Kari) Wendt of York, PA. She will also be remembered by a brother-in-law, Lyle Wagner of Henderson; a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Wagner of New Prague; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; her parents-in-law, George and Evelyn Wagner; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Wagner and Katheryn Swecker; two brothers-in-law, Roland Seifert and Alvin Wagner; and two nephews, Steven Roemhildt and Christopher Robinson.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Le Center Chapel of Schoenbauer Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur, with Rev. Bob Broeder officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.
